Do you ever think about race? Have you ever thought about the various forces throughout history that have prevented races from mixing? Why are "mixed" people in this country a people without a history? Must race be tied to culture? Can we ever abolish the concept of "race"? Should we?

The workshop will include personal stories, readings from books and/or poetry, discussion of history (and lack of history) of "biracial" and "multiracial" people in the U.S. and other parts of the world, the implications of "biracial"/ "multiracial" people's existence and increased presence in society and anything else YOU would like to contribute.

The workshop will coincide with an art show titled, "Black or White?" with paintings by Lisa Freedom. At the workshop we will work towards putting together a zine. Please bring art supplies and materials for the zine (examples: hand written or typed stories, interviews with friends or relatives, recorded memories, any reproducable art you've done that might apply, etc.) and poems, books or copies from books on the subject, music (tapes or cds), etc. There will be reading packets on the subject available at the workshop.

The workshop will start at 12pm on Sunday, February 2nd. There will be coffee and tea available. This will be an all day event. Event Location: The Long Beach Infoshoppe REACH Center, located at 684 Redondo Ave. in Long Beach. For more information call 562-434-6934 or e-mail lb_infoshoppe@yahoo.com.
