While the gay & trans community expressed outrage this week over DA Cooley, the courts release a tranny basher on low bail.

During the same week that LA County District Attorney Steve Cooley shocked many by refusing to file hate crime charges against three defendants incarcerated for a Sept. 2 attack on gay men in West Hollywood, the LA County Municipal Court reduced the bail for another man arrested, also for a pipe attack, this time on a group of transgender women in Hollywood.

One of the victims, Laura, complained that her assailant, a Caucasian, was allowed to post a bail which was substantially less than what is normally charged in the same courts against transgender women accussed of prostiution.

"Why", Laura said "are alleged hookers, who haven't harmed anyone, considered more dangerous, and their bail set much higher, than that for a man who batters women on the streets?"

Transgeneracion, a grass roots organization of Transgender women in Los Angeles County, plans to discuss this situation with the Los Angeles Police.
