Para Crear Cartel Politicos Contra Gentrificacion en Los Angeles.//To Creat Political Posters Against Gentrification in Los Angeles.
En el Corredor Figueroa, gente de adinerada esta invitiendo fuertemente en tiendas y viviendes de precios elevados para atraer a gente a esta area que peuda pagar mucho mas por la renta de estos lugares. Como resultado de esto, gente de bajos ingresos economicos que vive en estos vecindarios esta siendo forzada a moverse de sus vivendas atraves de: demoliciones, alza desproporcionada de alquilers de apartamentos, por hostigamientos, y por demandas. A este proceso se le llama GENTRIFICACION.
Unase fuerzas con 3 organizaciones comunitarias-- ACCIONES ESTRATEGICAS PARA UNA ECONOMIA JUSTA (SAJE), el CENTRO PARA EL ESTUDIO DE GRAFICOS POLITICOS, y AUTO-AYUDAS GRAFICAS en la creacion de arts con y para la comunidad.
Buscamos artistas para crear carteles politicos que:
*Para hacer visible la fuerza y la viatlidad de NUESTRA comunidad.
*Para hacer visibles los efectos y la injusticias destructivas de gentrificacion.
*Para hacer visible nuestra determinacion y la lucha para mantener nuestros vecindarios.
OPORTUNIDADES: Crear arts significativa, reciba instruccion en hacer impresiones de alta calidad de seriagrafia y lograra que su trabajo sea annunciado en lugared publicos a traves del Corredor Figueroa. Artistas ganadores recibiran un salario de $500.

In the Figueroa Corridor, big money is investing in upscale housing and shopw to attract more affluent people in the area. As a result, low-income people of color who already live in the nighborhoods are bing pushed out through demolitions, rising rents, harassment, and evictions. This process is called GENTRIFICATION.
Join forces with 3 community organizations-- Strategic Actions for a Just Economy (SAJE), the Center for the Study of Political Graphics, and Self-Help Graphics-- to create art with and for the community.
We are looking for artists to create posters that:
*Make visible the strength and vitality of OUR community.
*Make visible the destructive effects and injustice of gentrification.
*Make visible our determination and struggle to keep our neighborhoods.
OPPORTUNITES: Create meaningful art, receive training in making high-quality silkscreen prints and have your work posted in public places thoguhout the Figueroa Corridor. Selected artist wil receive a $500 stipend.
