Much of Guatemala, large portions in Honduras, Nicaragua and approximately 40% of El Salvador are under brutal weather definitions that meet "Drought." Beans, maize, and coffee 3 mainstays and economic indicators are being decimated.

In Guatemala provinces affected worst: 1. Chiquimula.

2. Jutiapa.

3. Santa Rosa.

4. Jalapa.

5. Zacapa.

6. El Progreso.

7. Baja Veracruz.

8. San Marcos.

9. Retalhuleu.

10. Guatemala.

11. Totonicapan.

9 of 11 are major agricultural areas.

In Nicaragua: Worst affected areas areas are mainly confined to the western and northwestern provinces.

1. Nueva Segovia.

2. Jinotega.

3. Madriz.

4. Matagalpa.

5. Chinandega.

6. Esteli.

7. Leon.

Also affected are: 8. Masaya.

9. Carazo.

10. Coluteca.

11. Boaco.

12. Province of Managua.
