The Riverside County Sheriffs Department created a commission to address the issues of recruiting and retaining a more diverse work force. Judging from the latest statistical information from its substations, it has its work cut out for it. Is it up to the task?

Statistical information released by the Riverside County Sheriffs Department showed that the majority of its substations are not reflective of the communities they serve, in terms of racial and ethnic diversity.

Undersheriff Bob Doyle acknowledged to members of the new Commission on Recruiting, Retention and Diversity that the current numbers needed to be improved.
