Over 10,000 people marched in Durban South Africa to support the Palestinian People

10,000 Protesters march through the streets of Durban, South Africa Friday Aug. 31, 2001, during the World Conference Against Racism. The protest was to express solidarity with the Palestinian People and their struggle for Freedom and Independence. A protester carries a sign that reads "Apartheid IsReal" (an intentional mispelling of the countries name).

The draft declaration of the Conference does not equate Zionism with racism but it says: "Foreign occupation founded on settlements...(is) a new kind of apartheid, a crime against humanity.''
