Pres. Vicente Fox at UCLA tomorrow

Greet Mexican President Vicente Fox and California Governor Davis at their invite-only "town hall" at UCLA tomorrow.

Mexican President Vicente Fox is escaping the heat of Mexico City
and the demands of the Zapatista caravan for a little jaunt through
California. There he will meet with adoring dignitaries such as
California Governor Gray Davis, eager to welcome this shining new
Mexican star to the firmament of neoliberal governance. After
meeting with Governor Davis at UCLA tomorrow afternoon, he will
take part in an invite-only "town hall" at UCLA's McGowan Hall,
5-7pm, in the Film and TV dept. auditorium.

Interestingly, there is no mention of these events in any of
the major local news outlets, including neither the LA Times
nor La Opinion, LA's biggest Spanish language daily. Presumably,
the unwashed masses will be advised of these important comings
and goings of their "elected leaders" with brief news blurbs,
after the events are safely over, out of sight and mind.

Here's your chance to "spoil the party" a little and remind
our "elected" caciques that their public activities with other
political leaders are the PUBLIC's business, and that we don't
appreciate invite-only events for the consumption of their
chosen cronies. And also a chance to remind President Fox,
of course, of his obligation to the disenfranchised people of his
country, as given voice by the Zapatista delegation to Mexico City.
