Brief account of national news coverage of Monday night convention & protests

As I write, indymedia.org is publishing breaking news of a possible mass arrest, with police use of rubber bullets and chemical weapons. A year ago, this would have been shocking news, certainly shocking enough to make it to CNNH "Headline News" top stories segment, and maybe good enough to get prime time programming interrupted on regular TV.

Instead, CNN has Larry King ("live," if that's not too complimentary a word for this pair of animatrons) speaking with Jimmy Carter. CNNH shows Clinton waving at a crowd in LA, a sinking Russian submarine, and a tropical storm in Texas. NBC, CBS, Fox, and ABC have standard prime-time fare. At least TNT has something good -- RAW IS WAR wrestling!!
