D2K Holds a press conference Today to show the media who the protesters really are and to celebrate the ACLU's legal victory in regaining first ammendment rights for the DNC protests

In a swirl of banner, puppets and matachine dancers the media converged in pershing square were surrionded. The D2K network pulled off a seemingly successfull press conference today.

With apodium flanked with CNN, ABC and the other corporate swill that has been pouring forth paranoid rants of destruction at the DNC, todays conference attempted to respin the spin.

Stating their nonviolent credo and showing not a political agenda but a multi aged face of humanity, the D@K conference wanted to remake something. Was it Pershing Square they wanted to dedub free speach square after the squares history as a once soap-box ridden peoples park? Was it the image the media had tried to paint them into? was it the idea of a press conference as a speach based around a drab and pointed political topic?

Yes to all of the above. Most importantly, the network has been attempting to create an umbrella organization to funnel in people to the convention interventio so that a movement can be unified in a disparate front against the corporate government that exists today. Despite rumors of infighting within this group and between other organizations that are also mounting mobilizations at the DNC, this was a surely their day in the media's sun.

Organizations present were; EZLN representative, Carezen network, Oct. 16th Coalition, Black Panthers, IATSE member and D2K Labor outreach member, The Raging Grannies, Global Exchange Roadshow, YOC youth organizing communities, Cross Roads Womens Center, and others.
