The public hearing will be held in Carson City, though this planned extraction of 41 billion gallons per year will destroy an ecosystem that connects to Great Basin National Park and is a national resource that is for all to share in it's natural state, NOT to water Mr. Whittemore's 16 planned golf courses and 100,000 more homes for sprawl development nearly 50 miles north of the urban core of Las Vegas!

The City of Carson has just achieved another milestone in ordinance making. On July 15, the city has just declared Carson as a drug-free city. In a simple but well attended program that was held at the front courtyard of Carson City Hall, the City officials led by Mayor Jim Dear and Elito Santarina, Mayor Pro tem unveiled the drug-free city warning sign acclaimed by the cheering public. On April 16, 2010 the Carson City Council unanimously voted to adopt an ordinance that declared Carson as a “drug-free city and to provide enhanced penalties for the manufacture, sale, distribution, possession and illegal use of controlled substances.

The struggle against the privatization of public housing in Berkeley and Oakland has blossomed into a nation wide struggle against the profiteers that are trying to terminate public housing programs across the nation! On May 25, 2010, at a congressional hearing, Congresswoman Maxine Waters and many housing advocacy organizations from across the country spoke-out against HUD's proposals, and submitted written statements for the hearing record opposing TRA, including the Los Angeles Coalition to End Hunger and Homelessness and other Los Angeles housing and human rights organizations.

It consists of other environmental justice organizations, community members, professionals, ethnic organizations, faith-based groups, and youth clubs, established by People’s CORE in the South Bay in 2003. Some goals of the Earth celebrations is to educate community members on ways to be more environmentally friendly and promote environmental justice advocacy.

Main St. Los Angeles, CA 90745. More than 250 people attended the memorial mass celebrated by Fr. Thomas Asia, Filipino associate pastor at St. Philomena Church.

It was attended by a fairly good size crowd of veterans, students and community advocates.Veterans groups like Society of Guerillas and Sc outs (SGSI), United Filipino American Veterans (UFAV) and the Veterans Federation of the Philippines(VFP) , lobbyists, organizers, and other supporters was present They were updated by ACFV Executive Director Eric Lachica, JFAV Coordinator Al P. Garcia and Franco Arcebal on the current progress of campaign efforts and relevant legislative bills in the continued pursuit of recognition of the Veterans sacrifices in World War II.

A 22-year-old Marine sergeant from Carson, who often came back to his high school alma mater to encourage students to stay in school, has been killed in combat in Iraq. Marine Sgt. Alejandro Carrillo, a Carson High School graduate, died Jan. 30 while conducting combat operations in Anbar. He was a driver with a combat logistics battalion.
