DASNY Lawyer, McLish, Tries to Keep out Evidence (tags)
Mr. Mclish is now attempting to amend subpoenas issued by court order to various present and former DASNY staff members. Mr. Mclish is basically arguing that these witnesses should not have to bring with them any and all correspondence, email, letters, memos etc during the months of October 1999 – February 2000. The most notable documents missing are those that existed in December 1999. It seems that although DASNY had used their email system relating to this project for at least 18 months prior to December 1999 and heavily in the months that followed, apparently there were no emails, memos or letters, sent internally, during the month of December 1999. Are we to believe this? I don’t think so. What other damaging information could there be that Mr. Mclish is trying to cover-up?
BYE BYE BYBEE -STOP US TORTURE NOW! (tags)
Judge Jay Bybee, former head of the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel, authored legal memos approving torture. As a judge on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals he has a lifetime appointment. His unethical and illegal torture memos were not revealed in his Senate confirmation hearings. He admits that waterboarding "constitutes the imminent threat of death" and still allowed its use. Any act complicit in torture is a felony under US law. He must be removed from the bench now!

Obama and torture: Why did he go to CIA Headquarters? (tags)
Last week the Obama administration released more of the “torture memos” written by Department of Justice lawyers during the Bush regime. These and previous memos were written to provide legal cover for the torture of prisoners taken in the war of terror conducted by the Bush regime. After being given this legal cover, President Bush and other top officials of his criminal regime ordered torture and other illegal acts. We now know that there were regular meetings held at the White House where the specifics of torture were discussed by top administration officials.

Ann Wright on the Follies of Bush’s War (tags)
One of the unsung heroes of the opposition to the Iraqi War is Ann Wright. Rather than support the war, she resigned her position with the State Dept. on March 19, 2003. Ms. Wright, a career diplomat for over 16 years, who had also served in the military, believes the Downing Street Memos have plenty of ammunition in them to support impeachment proceeding against President George W. Bush and criminal charges against others in his administration.
As with Terri Schaivo, It’s Time to Pull the Plug on a Brain-Dead US Media (tags)
The sorry display of editors making lame excuses for not informing the American public for over a month of the damning written evidence of Bush lying to get the U.S. into a needless war in Iraq—the Downing Street memos—makes it clear that no one who wants to know what’s going on should waste time reading or watching the corporate media. -------------------------------

Secret Service Wants Blakboxvoting.org (tags)
April 29th, 2004 From www.blackboxvoting.org The Secret Service Wants Your Name: Will "subpeona" this web site By Bev Harris And by the way, they read every word. Hi, agent Mike. This "investigation" no longer passes the stink test. He says not to tell folks about the "investigating" they are doing. I have cooperated ad nauseum to this absurd investigation of the "VoteHere hack" which looks to me like it is something entirely different. I'll tell you what it looks like to me: A fishing expedition. It appears that they may be using the Patriot Act to circumvent some of the civil rights protections laid down in the 60s. You see, it is illegal for a government agency to go in and demand the list of all the members of a group. And you can't investigate leaks to journalists by going in and grabbing the reporter's computer. After the Diebold memos were leaked, and my web site was shut down, around the time of the California recall election, I started getting solicited to accept VoteHere software. I didn't bite, because it was obvious that this was an entrapment attempt. Okay, a word about VoteHere: This is the company that has no visible means of support. It doesn't seem to sell anything. Its board is heavily infested with defense industry types -- a former CIA director (Robert Gates, now heads George Bush School of Government); it had Admiral Bill Owens, also Vice-Chairman of SAIC and a member of the Defense Policy Board with Perle and Wolfowitz, a very close friend of Cheney; currently headed by former Washington Secretary of State Ralph Munro.
TECHSPLOITATION: Die, Diebold, Die! (tags)
Diebold memos reveal the company has changed its software without getting it recertified -- which is a violation of federal and state laws -- and then used in California's recall election that installed Arnold Schwarzenegger as governor.

Proof the CA Energy Crisis was Corporate Manipulation/Theft (tags)
Probably no one reading the LA-IMC newswire will be surprised by this -- but here's (some of) the proof that last year's California Energy Crisis was thoroughly manipulated by the unregulated, parasitic energy corporations. A similar story was on the front page of today's (5-7-02) LA Times and the New York Times also had a lead article on the matter. Sorry for re-posting corporate media here, but I think it's important for this to be accessible on the LA-IMC newswire for posterity's sake. BTW, Pacifica Radio's Democracy NOW! had an excellent segment this morning about this as well.
