Few of us who did not serve in Vietnam or Iraq, for instance, have a clear understanding of the devastation wrought on those countries. The gap between our reality and theirs served as the driving force behind American author Susan Galleymore's venture into the war-torn countries of the Middle East. Her new book, "Long Time Passing: Mothers Speak About War & Terror," tells the stories of the repercussions of war on the mothers, families, communities, and cultures of Iraq, Israel, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, Afghanistan, and the United States.
