Within the past five months, since November 2006, the average driver is paying an additional $42 per month for gasoline and more than $100 per household. Families are finding it difficult to meet household expenses and are cutting back on weekend activities and vacation plans. The higher gasoline prices are driving up inflation nationally and are affecting the cost on consumer goods and services.
Washington No Match For Big Oil (tags)
Most of the Democratic and Republican presidential hopefuls are reluctant to challenge big oil, insurance companies, health care providers and many of the big corporations that are driving up inflation because these candidates for president will be relying on the same big corporations to contribute the hundreds of millions necessary for a successful campaign in 2007 and 2008. The Democrats and Republicans are selling America to the highest bidders.
Elections Are Over, Gas Prices Are Up (tags)
The 2006 Election results have been posted within the past few days and gasoline prices have already begun to show increases throughout the entire State of California and in some areas prices have increased 10 to 15 cents. Alexander says, “The greatest challenge Americans are facing to stop rising gasoline prices is not being organized to demand lower prices at the pumps. It is unfortunate that America’s one party system is keeping the nation divided on this front to protect the oil giants.”
Alexander: Lower Gasoline Prices, Still No Bargains (tags)
Within the past two months gasoline prices have been on a steady decline; in some areas of Southern California prices have dipped below $2.60 per gallon. Stewart Alexander, with the Peace and Freedom Party, admits the lower prices are good for consumers; however he says, “It is not good enough; we need to have gasoline prices below $2.25 per gallon to benefit commuters and truck drivers, and Proposition 87 is not the answer.”
Lt. Gov. Candidate Wants to Economize Gasoline (tags)
The crusader against rising gasoline prices, Stewart A. Alexander, is opposed to a California proposition on the State’s November ballot, to tax gasoline, because he believes it will not prevent gasoline price gouging at the pumps. Instead Alexander is proposing to introduce a program that he has identified as the, Friendly Petroleum Producers Program, to help provide relief at the pumps for consumers and the trucking industry.
