Oaxacan police kidnap and beat Woman freedom fighter (tags)

The dirty war against the Oaxacan people and their struggle for justice continues. Ever since the federal government occupied Oaxaca City in November 2006, the state government has carried out kidnappings, beatings, harassment and arrests against members of the popular movement that demands the destitution of Oaxaca's governor, Ulises Ruiz Ortiz.

International campaign to free Adán Mejía López and stop the persecution of Militante and the CLEP-CEDEP Free the political prisoners! The Calderon government, desperate in the face of its complete lack of legitimacy and its intense fear of the increasing class polarisation, has intensified the repression and criminalisation of social struggles, murdering and imprisoning many of the millions of worker and youth who have dared to raise their voices against the misery and oppression so predominant in Mexico. For years the working class has been squeezed to no end, all the social tensions generated as a consesquence of this opened the way to insurrectional struggles such as that which occured last year in Oaxaca and, on a national level, against the electoral fraud.

Art and the Oaxaca Commune (tags)

At a time when many US citizens feel powerless to stop the criminal direction of ‘their’ government, the examples of revolutionary movements elsewhere give not only hope, but practical education towards organizing a society where humans outrank profit on the list of social priorities. The ‘Oaxaca Commune’ in Mexico is such an example. For three months, the Mexican state of Oaxaca was controlled by a people’s ‘popular assembly’ that took rapid measures in ousting the corrupt state government and its accomplices within the media and police. The Mexican federal government has since taken severe action in repressing this popular movement, but further organizing and revolutionary momentum has already begun. The huge successes of the movement and its continued political evolution should thus be an inspiration for all those interested in social progress.

Report from Oaxaca #2 (tags)

Today, people didn’t want to talk about fear, but instead about the anger the repression has filled them with. They denounced the government and proudly upheld their struggle. The last six months has changed people. They have stood up—or as many describe it, finally the people have said “enough,”—and and the changes that thousands are going through are not so easily crushed.

Direct solidarity with the oppressed and exploited in Oaxaca (tags)

When we read the communiqués sent out by APPO [Asamblea Popular de los Pueblos de Oaxaca / Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Oaxaca] and by all the organizations, collectives and individuals that are today a part of it, including some anarchist companions that innocently follow these shitpile bourgeoisie and authoritarians, we honestly ask ourselves if we are talking about the same thing, or worse yet, if we even co-exist in the same country or if they are narrating to us what occurs in a distant galaxy.

APPO Comunicado, October 13, 2006 (tags)

The federal government is preparing a massacre against the People of Oaxaca. Thousands of military units are already in the state, hundreds of bulldozers have arrived, helicopters, tactical reconnaissance planes, warships, planes, and even a bomber! This is the response from a fascist government to a rebellious and dignified people. They think that in this way they will bring the Popular Assembly of the People of Oaxaca (APPO, by its spanish initials) to its knees, that with this they will scare the people of Oaxaca, they believe they can impose themselves once again, at whatever cost, on a people who have already awakened. They want to put an end to the struggle and resistance of the Oaxacan people in order to implement the economic plans they promised to their imperialist bosses.

U.S. "War on Drugs" Is A Joke (tags)

In Bolivia, the real agenda behind the American "war on drugs" becomes blatantly clear: it is a racist attempt to take away the land of Indigenous farmers(coca growers) and transfer it into the hands of mainly U.S. based trans-national corporations so they will be forced to work for them at paltry wages like slaves on a plantation.
