Greece: Prisoners support and more actions on New Year's eve (tags)
New year's eve, most of the people choose to stay in their houses or go to bars, all celebrating the coming of the new year. However there are people who at these times choose to stand close to those who are alone, locked away and forgotten and there are people who believe that the social struggle never ends.
Hundreds of thousands of students march for Chavez and "yes" in the referendum (tags)
They came in their tens of thousands, in their hundreds of thousands. They came from schools, from colleges, from universities, from teachers' unions and trade unions, and from the Social Missions concerned with education. They came in their red shirts with different names but all saying the same thing, Si in the referendum. Here in Venezuela learning is on the order of the day. Everyone is studying in one way or another, everyone is a student, so they came in all ages. We gathered in the Plaza de Venezuela and as each minute passed we grew in numbers. In all parts of the gathering crowd there were sound systems belting out different rhythms and people were dancing, singing and shouting slogans. It was a carnival atmosphere with a serious message. The small group of students also dressed in red but with No placards quickly disappeared after having been confronted by revolutionary students shouting "No pasaran", they shall not pass. We moved off chanting slogans such as "Eduacion Primero para el hijo del obrero; Educacion después para el hijo del burgues" (Firstly, the children of workers should be educated and only then the children of the bourgeoisie), "Obreros y Estudiantes, Unidos en Combate" (Workers and Students united in Struggle) and very importantly "Alerta, Alerta, Alerta Camarada, Que ya esta Preparada la Resistencia Armada" (Watch out Comrades, Armed Resistance is Ready). As the slogans were shouted red flags were being waved.

The American ‘Think Tank’ (tags)
The world can hardly wait to hear Bush’s new plans for the continued occupation of Iraq. With an official Iraqi death toll exceeding 655,000, social anarchy and failed state status fast approaching, the Bush regime has NOTHING to skite about and no where to go but HOME. The whole disastrous intervention in Iraq is living proof that myopic criminal endeavours always end in tragedy for the people. We recall that U.S. invading forces were under strict orders to secure one site only, the OIL MINISTRY in Baghdad – how telling! From the first day analysts were under no illusions as to the real intentions of the invaders – PLUNDER – the appropriation of Iraq’s most valuable resource.
Unqualified Slogans: “Win” and “Way Forward” (tags)
As America faces the most calamitous military misadventure in its history, the administration offers unqualified slogans rather than detailed plans to remedy the horror it created in Iraq. The American mass media is now buzzing with the sound of nothing meaningful. The Bush administration has resorted to contextually meaningless slogans in its efforts to dupe an increasingly sceptical public. The latest inane slogans saturating the airwaves are “win” and “way forward”. Only adolescents and the daft invest meaning in unqualified slogans – shall we test the latest two slogans and attempt to determine the ruse behind the deception?

Old 'Cons' coin new slogans (tags)
Alarmed by the "Excess of Evil" committed by the "Neo-Cons" of the Bushwhacked Oil Cabal squatting in the White House these days, some traditional conservatives have revived & re-worked slogans from the '60s to combat the fascist trend of their newer 'upstarts.'
Future Generations Against Bush (tags)
Most folks with half a brain know that the Bush regime does NOT consider the next seven generations when they set environmental, fiscal or international policy. Hell, they don't even consider the NEXT generation!

Are breakaway marches a good tactic? (tags)
Radical elements of the anti-war movement have used "breakway marches," in which a smaller group breaks away from the main (peaceful and legal) march, and engages in "direct action" of some sort, to good effect in SF, LA, & NYC. At this early stage of the movement, that is probably a good idea. However, once war with Iraq actually breaks out in earnest, radical anti-capitalists should seek to seize control of the main marches themselves, wresting them away from the reformist misleaders, and taking the streets in a massive showing of the power of the people.
Vegas Peace Demo (tags)
Las Vegas is usually known as a hotbed of apathy. However, a small but lively group of protesters challenged that image yesterday with a spirited anti-war demonstration on the Las Vegas Strip. The demonstrators held signs and chanted slogans in front of the MGM Grand, where Bush, Sr. was raising funds, before marching up and down the Strip.
