Just a bit over one month ago San Diego was the site of an amazing demonstration focused on Biotechnology. Here are all of the photos, videos and most of the stories from the BioJustice 2001 events. San Diego Biojustice Protests: Did the Police Overreact? (tags)
The San Diego Action Network held a debate July 27 on the topic, "Biojustice: Did the Police Overreact?" But the debate was one-sided because the city, the police and downtown business groups all refused to participate. Instead representatives of Biojustice and the National Lawyers' Guild discussed police abuses during the June 24-27 BIO 2001 convention in San Diego, and the San Diego IMC debuted a 10-minute video documenting the oppressive police presence.

Over 30 people rallied at the San Diego County Courthouse to protest the police treatment of actual or suspected Biojustice protest participants during the biotech industry's annual convention June 24-27. Many participants told their own stories of being arrested and hassled by police, including an L.A. woman's account of sexual harassment in the San Diego County Jail.
