Pacifica is also KPFK and scandals are being transparentized. (tags)
Revelations have been published at the 1 website that dares to tell more of the internal doings of each and all Pacifica 5 radio stations, nationwide. KPFK is always connected to the others. Financially and otherwise. What happens at it’s umbrella – Pacifica- located in Berkeley is vital to it’s survival. Some revealed emails between a prior PNB member and Pacifica’s atty-counsel is posted there. See below
KPFK needs your VOTE ! or lose it. (tags)
KPFK and Pacifica Elections must meet a very minimum quorum/ amount of voters who Vote and participate, or the expenses [about $25,000?] are wasted and same-old Board members happily stay stuck in place, out of legitimate time but clinging to power-positions. so VOTE if you qualify for their minimum contribution made this [fiscal] year. Call to inquire for more info at 818-985-2711 day hrs. or see www.KPFK.org for minimum info there.
KPFK hosted PACIFICA's board in LA. Missed it? here's some for ya (tags)
More on PACIFICA FORUM in LA june 2015 - as observed and noted. Many KPFK public members - and staff - and programmers came for their brief 2-min comment to the 'parent' company- Pacifica PNB members present, The PNB spoke for hours disputing, conflicting, discussing and also shouting to each other - while the larger-size audience sat way in back behind their circle.
KPFK'S rep to Pacific Bd Whitleblower -being kicked out ...plse sign petiton here (tags)
KPFK is losing a courageous whistleblower - one who dared to reveal secrets - that were requested by Atty General in a legal action - while pertinent & vital info was denied the AG by the Pacifica Na'l Bd members . So instead PNB conveniently wants to kick out a KPFK PNB member who complies with the investigation and laws ? what is going on ??? Since when is law-less-ness the better way to solvency ?
The Pacifica Radio Network and "local control" (tags)
SaveKPFA are the majority caucus on the elected KPFA Local Station Board (LSB). Their delegates to the Pacifica National Board (PNB) are also in the majority there. "Local control" has always been a main plank of their platform, but in February, the PNB cast a vote that seemed to institutionalize the exact opposite.
Pacifica voting in secret with no accountability? Is this part of KPFK ? (tags)
Counterpunch is now publishing wrong info ? Who gave them that information about Pacifica? How confusing. Another commentator disclosed here at Indymedia how Pacifica Nat'l Bd voted to deselect the hired Exe Director. But the numbers and facts never add up correctly. Nor can results be explained and no names of voters are named. And KPFK's Local Station Board meetings have a fight club mentality and provides no factual helpful information either. Ask their LSB for more accurate info here: lsbchair@kpfk.org
Pacifica Exe Director position is in confusion still putting KPFK at risk (tags)
Pacifica is in broken shape, in at least two separate pieces: The Executive Directorship is allocated to 2 people by at least 2 groups. One is Summer Reese, [ a long time PNB chair and member, and she was contractually hired after many months working as interim ED ] and the other is Bernard Duncan, former KPFK general manager [ who claimed to be going to NZ to be with his girlfriend and he left his KPFK position months before his contract was up.]
Summer Reese is the Pacifica Foundation’s Abe Lincoln (tags)
Is the Pacifica Foundation Board Trying to Dissolve the Foundation’s Five Station Union, Place Each Station’s Broadcast License under Local Ownership, Sell WBAI into the Commercial Marketplace and Distribute the Proceeds as "Endowments" to the Remaining 4 Stations?
Pacifica board members named here, who attempted ousting ED (tags)
Pacifica conflict over who is Executive Director continues in it's non-wisdom and contenders vying for power and position. Here are excerpts of some updated info and names the PNB members who voted 12- to - 10 to 'fire' the one most recently hired. Some of these KPFK - LSB members who only very recently were elevated to PNB are included in the ousting, outing of Summer Reese. 3 of our 4 voted by phone to expel her. We need to hold all our LSB and PNB [acting as non-] representatives accountable for their actions, and not for their own personal opinions - - unless those interfere and overtake their responsibility to all us KPFK subscribers/ sponsors/ payers/ members.
LA Weekly promotes a slanted view of Pacifica/ KPFK (tags)
LA Weekly produced an article about Pacifica, which involves KPFK of course, that was apparently biased and the writer maybe even was a prior student of Cooper whom he liked to quote as if an "expert" but may not at all be so. The letters written to LA Weekly were on line and in print 2 more times to display the local concerns. This Open letter to their Editor is to respond to all 3 of those print-postings.
Pacifica IS also KPFK, so let's not ignore what going on (tags)
Pacifica is struggling with who is it's new Executive Director with much dramatic flurries, acting outs, resistances, alliances, and stories barely coming out, even on internet. A few reports of happenings is being sent out to the 'rest of us' by Tracy Rosenberg, a former termed out PNB member. We here in LA are playing dumb and treated as if we were even dumber...muted actually. see her site for other stories and commentators too.
Repost from Counterpunch re Pacifica - KPFK too involved (tags)
Excerpts from a recent article about the happenings to Pacifica, the holder of KPFK and other 4 stations nationwide. Recent upheavals and attempts at 'take-overs' and resistances and wild stories of in-fighting...continue...on....
The fix is in for the 2010 KPFK elections. The only question is, who's it in for?
MERGER NG PNB-ALLIED BANK, GANAP NA KONTROL NI LUCIO TAN SA BANKO (tags)
How To Lose Pacifica, and How To Save It (tags)
As a member of KPFK's Local Station Board, I've been asked repeatedly to explain what's happening at the community radio station. This is my letter to the Pacifica National Board, KPFK's parent organization. I paint the PNB members with a broad brush here, and some individual members were as forthcoming as they could be under the hammer of "breaching confidentiality.". What we never got were official explanations. The Pacifica National Board can be reached at pnb@pacifica.org.
For KPFK/Pacifica Fans: Feedback Wanted (tags)
At its meeting on Tuesday, November 11, the Local Station Board Delegates will be voting on changes to the Pacifica Bylaws. The Bylaws took more than a year of contention and lawsuits to assemble, and changes should be carefully considered. Overall, the changes, included below with comments for and against, increase the amount of business the Pacifica National Board can do and increase its efficiency in doing that business. The downside is reduced member and listener participation in the process. As an LSB member, I would like to hear your thoughts on these important revisions before voting. You can comment here or email me privately, or you can voice your opinion at the LSB meeting, at 7:00 at Palms Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2908 Robertson Place, Los Angeles. The Church is located 3 blocks north of National Blvd. and the I-10, to the east of S. Robertson Blvd. LA buses 220 and 534 and Big Blue Bus 12 are within walking distance.
