Nemesio Aquino, a worker of JAM Transit (formerly Tritran Bus Company), was shot dead by unidentified men when he just came out from the Bureau of Labor Relations office in Barangay Parian, Calamba City, Laguna at around 2:00 PM. The militant Pagkakaisa ng Manggagawa sa Timog Katagalugan (PAMANTIK-KMU) or Solidarity of Workers in Southern Tagalog expressed condemnation and alarming concern over the recent killing of a unionist.

Protests from the urban poor in Southern Tagalog geared towards Monday's State of the Nation Address (SONA) began as early as Wednesday and are now on the third day of a six-day caravan dubbed "Lakbay-Riles ng Maralita laban sa kagutuman, dislokasyon at karahasan ." The caravan took-off from Gumaca, Quezon around 8AM today and is set to reach San Pablo City at around 3PM, but protesters fear that they may be blocked again amid NCRPO chief Vidal Querol's statement that a special operations group of the New People's Army from Mindoro would try to sneak into the capital.

According to a message posted on the "Save Our State" website, Joe Turner apparently got incredibly angry when Laguna Beach police officer Andy Peck allegedly asked him at last Saturday's anti-day laborer center demonstration what "username" he used on the Stormfront White Nationalist Community website, a nationwide bulletin board service on the internet run by an ex-Ku Klux Klan leader. But what are the Laguna Beach police supposed to think when Turner shows up at a protest in their city and suddenly decides to spend some quality time hanging out with Robert Floyd (aka, "Baldy"), an avowed "white nationalist" who was tackled to the ground a couple weeks earlier for allegedly trying to assault Naui Huitzilopochtli, a counterdemonstrator, at a previous demo?

Come to Laguna Beach and watch top leaders of SOS stand in solidarity against the "brown problem" with members of the National Vanguard, just like they did in Baldwin Park. Make sure you take plenty of photographs of the SOS rally, because many members of that group are linked to the National Vanguard , the Ku Klux Klan, and other white power groups. Weekly Protests Continue in Orange County (tags)
Public protests continued yesterday in Laguna Beach, with concurrent demonstrations against both the Drug War and the impending intensification of US violence against Iraq. Each of the two groups gathered at Main Beach in Laguna, standing along Pacific Coast Highway holding signs and handing out leaflets to passersby. While public response to the anti-war demo was mixed (at best), there was a surprising level of support for the Drug War protesters. Drivers and their passengers were honking, waving and cheering. Folks seemed particularly enthusiastic about one sign which read, “Re-Legalize Marijuana.”
