April 30th, 1970... The U.S. invades Cambodia, expanding the war against Vietnam. Protests break out across the U.S. Campuses are paralyzed by strikes and shutdowns. May 4th, 1970... National Guard troops at Kent State University fire live ammunition into crowds of unarmed demonstrators... killing four and wounding nine.

May 2003 marks the 33rd Annual Commemoration of American antiwar students being killed by National Guard Troops. Thirty three years ago President Nixon ordered U.S. Troops into Cambodia... widening the war against Vietnam... campuses all across the U.S. shut down in protest.
October 6: Tens of thousands pledge: (tags)
Tens of thousands said it together on October 6--in dozens of rallies and gatherings across the U.S., on banners and T-shirts, signs and songs, in chants, speeches and a solemn common pledge of resistance. Everywhere, on banners, flyers, signs and shirts was that photo of our beautiful planet floating in space--as a symbol of unity across borders and dreams of a better world.
