Nemesio Prudente, the former president of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and human rights advocate, died early Friday in a Cavite hospital. He was 81. One of the more prominent political prisoners of the martial law regime of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, Prudente died following almost a month of confinement at the De La Salle Medical Center in Dasmariñas, Cavite, his nephew Dante said.

Do you wonder if the Iraqi warmongers will ever be punished for their evildoings? Well, thanks to one of Italy’s greatest sons, Dante Alighieri, there is a way to find out. He wrote “The Divine Comedy,” the first book of which is about his descent into Hell. It’s called, “The Inferno.” With a little imagination, Dante was sent forward to the year 2065. He reprised his trip to the Inferno for us and forwarded an account of what he had witnessed.
