Playing the ‘Anti-Semitism’ Card Against Venezuela (tags)
"Although the arrests helped ease the anxieties of Venezuela’s Jewish community, the international media pressed on with the storyline of a politically motivated attack. The very week that the Venezuelan Israelite Association issued a statement praising the swift and successful investigation, The Washington Post ran an editorial titled “Mr. Chavez vs. the Jews,” which again blamed the robbery on the government, or, more specifically, on an ugly comment left on a “pro-government Web site,” demanding “that citizens ‘publicly challenge every Jew that you find in the street, shopping center or park’ and called for a boycott of Jewish-owned businesses, seizures of Jewish-owned property and a demonstration at Caracas’s largest synagogue.”4 The editorial concluded that the synagogue was then “duly attacked.”5 The idea that the sacking of the Caracas synagogue was based purely on anti-Semitism has persisted, even showing up in a recent piece authored by two academics in the high-brow Boston Review. The authors claim the attack is a sign of “state-directed anti-Semitism.”

U.S. policy is not about one individual, and no matter how much faith people place in President-elect Barack Obama, the policies he enacts will be fruit of a tree with many roots. Among them: his personal politics and views, the disastrous realities his administration will inherit, and, of course, unpredictable future crises. But the best immediate indicator of what an Obama administration might look like can be found in the people he surrounds himself with and who he appoints to his Cabinet. And, frankly, when it comes to foreign policy, it is not looking good.

AT 44 years since the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the war in Iraq and the Bush family saga have magnified the need to declassify documents related to the November 22, 1963 attack that affected not only the United States but, to a surprising degree, Cuba, and the rest of the world.

Head of Sept. 11 Commission Said Iraq War for Israel
9/11 Commission Director: Iraq War Launched to Protect Israel (tags)
It is time to start asking the question of why the US Government seems more concerned about the wishes of a foreign government than its own people. The US has commited the ultimate international sin; killing another nation. While no surprise to those of us who have been watching the war closely all along, (you know, those of us who knew there really weren't any weapons of mass destruction) Zelikow's remarks come as no surprise. A web search will show that Israel was cheering along the war all along AND providing the so-called "intelligence" about Saddam's weapons, "intelligence" which even Israel now admits was an "overestimate" (euphemism de jour for lying). Parents of our slain war-dead, aware that the Iraq war was built on lies, can no longer even console themselves with the thought that their son or daughter died for their country, misguided as the country was. Your children were killed for for a foreign nation, offered up by the US Government as a blood sacrifice to Israel, traded for "campaign donations" You think about that one for a while.
