Honasan is close to Senator Enrile, the present Senate President a known supporter of President Arroyo. This group has been involved in several coup attempts from Marcos to GMA regime since 1985.The Guardians, composed of civilians, government employees, active and retired police and military, claims a membership of more than one million in different parts of the country.
