"This crisis brings into question the future of the Mexican Nation and it’s people. In this political scheme by the grand capitalists, domestic and foreign, we lack hope. The Mexican people do not have a place in this world of neoliberal globalization except as pariahs and a disposable labor force. Given these circumstances, we need a patriotic transformation and a democratization of the political system, the economy and the culture that can confront this deep crisis of our country and the problems of the Mexican people. We need a transformation that will push out the bourgeois oligarchy and the political class that governs the state and the imperialist domain of Mexico. There is a need to construct a new majority that includes all of the patriotic forces that will install a new government and a new state. A new majority that is capable of taking back control and the property of the productive forces and strategic resources of the nation, and also able to guarantee sustainable development, social justice, national sovereignty, the autonomy of the indigenous pueblos and the practice of popular democracy."

La reivindicación de la libertad de expresión ha sido eterna compañera de viaje de las luchas y de los avances democráticos. Aunque es muy reciente (1993) la institución del Dia Mundial de la Libertad de Prensa http://portal.unesco.org/es/ev.php-URL_ID=20261&URL_DO=DO_PRINTPAGE&URL_SECTION=201.html y los efectos de los planteamientos que se hicieron para instituir la celebración sean, el 3 de mayo de 2008, más impactantes que nunca, solamente 1 de las aperturas de los 16 medios más representativos de las opiniones convencionales francesa y española hace alusión a la celebración:
CHILEAN POLICE USES GUNS AGAINST PROTESTING MAPUCHE COMMUNITY JUAN PAILLALEF (tags)
In the last three days the Mapuche Community ‘Juan Paillalef’ was confronted with harsh police violence. The confrontations started during a peaceful act of protest by the Mapuche Community against illegal road constructions through several Mapuche lands. The police chased away the protesting group and entered the community using guns, teargas and clubs. The following day Juana Calfunao and her sister were arrested without a warrant. When released yesterday, both women showed bad injuries from being beaten by the police.
