Report Back: LA Forum on and Fundraiser for Haiti (tags)
Over 200 people, overwhelmingly Black people, came out for the Public Forum on and Fundraiser for Haiti. Actor and activist Danny Glover, Pierre Labossiere, co-founder of Haiti Action Committee, and Robert Roth, board member of Haiti Emergency Relief Fund were featured speakers at the event which both helped get the word out about what's happening on the ground in Haiti and raised funds to support the Haitian grassroots. Margaret Prescod, host of KPFK's Sojourner Truth and Women of Color in the Global Women's Strike, chaired.

Imagine a place where people can come together to exchange ideas, create art, play music, and otherwise invest in a better world, starting here and now in Los Angeles. Some LA heads went beyond imagining and created it. After many hours of hard work and planning, they finally opened it up to the community to host a hip hop show, a benefit for next month's anarchist bookfair. The crowd was mostly young people from a variety of backgrounds and different parts of the city. Some of us were painting and organizing for the first Los Angeles Really Really Free Market, but mostly people were just bobbing their heads to the beats. We were obviously a threat to the system and the American way of life.

Last night the at the Revolutionary Autonomous Communities fundraiser for the Anarchist Bookfair at the food not bombs warehouse on 6th and Santa Fe was raided by the LAPD. They kicked open the door and unlawfully entered in to the private space.

The LAPD are targeting BLRP leaders and have framed them up with assault weapons charges. ARA LA asserts that this is due to their organizing to educate people about the San Francisco Eight case.
Black Riders held on million dollars bail each, back in court Wednesday (tags)
The state’s cases against T. A. C. O., Aryana and Stress, which T. A. C. O. described as “b. s.” to defense attorney Guillermo Suarez, are based on the testimony of an undercover cop who alleges that he approached the Black Riders, pretending to be Lebanese and connected to freedom fighters in the Middle East. He claims that the three defendants were involved in a plot to take possession of weapons and protective vests that he claimed to be able to provide them. No weapons were ever involved. These charges are essentially for a “Thought crime” – allegedly conspiring to attempt to possess weapons.
