Instead, the government succeeded in prolonging the agony of the people for failing to deliver basic services to the people who are victims of natural disasters. Alliance-Philippines, Kabataang maka-Bayan, the ANSWER Coalition alongside many other Pilipino organizations, have teamed up with Search to Involve Pilipino to collect the much needed material for the relief efforts. The generous people at Team Pacquiao with there efforts titled "Operatin Metro Manila" will take a huge role in the organization of the relief efforts. There are parallels between the hurricane Katrina and typhoon Ondoy specifically how the Philippine governments neglect the basic needs of the people while spending money for civil wars against the NPA and the Moros (MILF), foreign trips and personal profiteering. More than 25 provinces from Nothern Luzon to Bicol were affected by the floods. More than 400,00 people were homeless and hundreds are feared death.
