GMA NG PILIPINAS AT URIBE NG COLOMBIA, PAREHONG PAPET AT PASISTA (tags)

THE THIRD VIETNAM? (tags)

Very few people know that the US military is directly involved in the fierce fighting going on in the Philippines between the Moro insurgents and the corrupt and brutal Arroyo regime supported by the Bush neocons and the warmongering Pentagon planners. Will you continue to allow US tax dollars to be wasted in this barbaric genocidal war against indigenous peoples? Over a thousand extrajudicial killings and "forced disappearances" under Arroyo's tenure, plus a few hundred Muslims dead as "collateral damage," may be the signs of US "benevolent hegemony" (Robert Kagan) and US "magnanimous imperial power" (Dinesh D'Souza). McKinley's "Benevolent Assimilation" lives on!

BUSH SENDS NUCLEAR AIRCRAFT CARRIER TO THE PHILIPPINES (tags)

With the subservience of the Arroyo regime, Bush continues the political-military intervention in the "killing field" of the Philippines, wasting millions of tax-dollars in suppressing the Moro insurgents and Filipino national-democrats, abetting the horrendous extra-judicial killings and enforced disappearances and widespread poverty and oppression, all in the name of the war against "terrorism," a code-word for popular resistance against global capital's greed and inhumane devastation of the planet.

The Present Rice Crisis in The Philippines (tags)

The Philippine Peasant Support Network (Pesante)-USA, a Filipino farmers, environmental and human rights advocacy group based in Los Angeles expressed dismay over the US-Arroyo regime’s way of solving the present rice crisis in the former rice producing nation of the Philippines. The Philippine government is going to buy two million metric tons of rice abroad at a cost of $600 or P24,600 per metric ton, that will be P49.2 billion, which is 146 times than the Philippines annual post-harvest budget. President Arroyo already released P1.5 billion to boost rice production especially in the top 10 poorest provinces. The rice will be imported- from of all places-- the United States and Vietnam.

Health groups join anti-corruption protests in the Philippines (tags)

Political Fiefdoms Dig In (tags)

A look at the election outcome in some of the political turfs would show whether the geopolitical balance of power has changed without necessarily shaking the infrastructures of political dynasties in those areas. The clan of Macapagal-Arroyo has been in power for 58 years, broken only by the Marcos dictatorship. Even if the clan has spun out its political presence in Camarines Sur and Negros, it has a lot of damage control coming up what with the province of Pampanga - considered Mrs. Arroyo's bailiwick and father Diosdado's birthplace - going to a new governor,

Thaksin of Thailand is Out, The Taksil in Malacañang is Next – Pesante (tags)

The Philippine Peasant Support Network (Pesante)-USA is happy to express our greetings of solidarity for the people of Thailand especially to the Thai-Americans who lived in ThaiTown in Los Angeles for their victory in forcing Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra out of office. The people of Thailand did not let up their protest and boycotted the elections that Thaksin maneuvered to save his political career.
