Total victory over a nuclear poweer is not possible without nuclear war (tags)
We are now in a situation where the best-case scenario is that this war will continue for years as a slow, bloody war of attrition with hundreds of thousands more dead, with progressive destruction of the Ukrainian economy and infrastructure, with progressive impoverishment of the European population. The worst-case scenario is a global nuclear war.
"We should respect the red lines of both sides" & Gen Harald Kujat (tags)
We are on a path of extreme escalation & media lies or silence...This war began because of NATO expansion, U.S. involvement in a coup & the massive rearmament of Ukraine - then came the horrific invasion & further escalation. This war must stop before it leads to nuclear Armageddon.
Total victory over a nuclear poweer is not possible without nuclear war (tags)
Neither side in this war represents any forward-looking political idea. It is not a war for freedom and democracy, but an imperialist war over whether Ukraine will remain a semi-colony of the US and EU or become a semi-colony of Russia again.
Criticism of US/Nato policy is extremely censored (tags)
The benefits of endless fighting in Ukraine are as immense as they are obvious. The military budget is skyrocketing. Archenemies Russia and Putin are punished. They remain embroiled in a war from which Ukrainians suffer the most.

US troops are war criminals (tags)
The U.S. troops fighting the unjust, needless, illegal, immoral war of agression in Iraq and Afghanistan are war criminals. The war itself is a war crime. They have killed thousands of civilians. They could and should refuse to fight this war.
At the conference, everything essential like participation of Hamas should be excluded. Residents of Tel Aviv could be among those who pay dearly for the mad plans of George W Bush. The Jews are made a pretext for a new crusade of Christian fundamentalists.
Vets REJECTED from Long Beach Vet's Parade Participation. DO SOMETHING! (tags)
This is in response to the article written in the Long Beach Press Telegram regarding the three groups of veterans and their families who were REJECTED from participating in the Veterans Day Parade, even though they and their families served and are continuing to serve their country with honor. My son just returned from his second tour in Iraq. We both believe in the Constitution ,which includes the right to speak out against this war. It is something that he is proud to fight for and will continue to follow orders if he is sent back to Iraq. While watching the entire parade from the sidelines, I was saddened to see that there were no participants from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan at all! That means that the only participants of this war that wanted to march in the parade were excluded. The city, as well as Val Lerch, who continued to try to make this a political issue, bear responsibility for this lack of support for our soldiers currently serving in this war. How could Council member Lerch, a proud member of this committee, overlook this glaring omission if he supports the troops? By the way, Iraq Veterans Against the War, Military Families Speak Out, and Veterans for Peace carried no signs whatsoever. It was very important to us that we honor all the troops, and we enthusiastically applauded all participants. Also, please note, we had plenty of enthusiastic responses from the crowd and a few public displays of apology. This is an important point, because the city and committee knew we marched in last year’s parade without incident and that we are valid members of the military, unlike other groups like the medical insurance van, etc. This is why several cities, including La Palma, Palm Springs, Santa Monica, and other cities nationwide were inviting our groups to march in their parade; they understand that you can support the troops but not the administration’s policies that continue to blindly send our loved ones to die in a war that should never have happened in the first place. Apparently, the Veterans Day Committee and the city of Long Beach do not understand the difference. --Pat Alviso, Military Families Speak Out, Long Beach, CA, USA, Pat Alviso & Jeff Merrick, Military Families Speak Out Orange County & South Bay Chapter, www.mfsooc.org www.myspace.com/ocmfso 562-833-8035 Support Our Troops. Kathy Kelly to James Baker: “Tell the Truth about Iraq!” (tags)
Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Kathy Kelly, gave a talk at the UMBC campus, on Nov. 20, 2006. She mocked the ex-Secretary of State, James Baker, for saying he wasn’t going to “wring his hands” about past mistakes in Iraq. Baker heads up the so-called “Iraq Study Group.” Kelly roared: “We will wring our hands! One of the ways to stop this next war is to tell the truth about this war. And, it’s not going to be such a pleasant mirror to look into.”
What would happen if Israel had won the war? (tags)
It is impossible to speak of a Hizbullah victory' when nearly a thousand Lebanese civilians have been killed, thousands more injured, a million people internally displaced; and Lebanon's infrastructure, environment and economy laid to waste as the world watches. The general consensus however is that Hizbullah's and Lebanon's steadfastness after four weeks of merciless Israeli attacks means that Israel has failed to achieve its objectives through military means: crushing/disarming Hizbullah, reinstating its deterrent, and protecting the security of northern Israel. Indeed, Hizbullah's resistance has gained unprecedented support throughout the Arab world, and Nasrallah has emerged as a Nasser-like figure who has restored pride to Arabs everywhere in contrast to the uniformly servile and unpopular Arab regimes.

The Cruel, Collective Punishment of Lebanon (tags)
Lebanon, which has never fought Israel and has 40 daily newspapers, 42 colleges and universities and hundreds of different banks, is being destroyed by our planes and cannon and nobody is taking into account the amount of hatred we are sowing. In international public opinion, Israel has been turned into a monster, and that still hasn't been calculated into the debit column of this war. Israel is badly stained, a moral stain that can't be easily and quickly removed. And only we don't want to see it.
The fact that George Bush and Tony Blair are cheering Israel might be consolation for Ehud Olmert and the media in Israel, but it is not enough to persuade millions of TV viewers who see the images of destruction and devastation, most of which are not shown to Israeli audiences. The world sees entire neighborhoods that have been destroyed, hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing in panic, homeless, and hundreds of civilians dead and wounded including many children who have nothing to do with Hezbollah.

We don't want leftist Johnny-come-latelys who are misleadingly protesting this war – as if the war is about oil (not true), or as if it's right-wing patriots who launched this war (not true) – to hijack the issue from us," writes James Kelso, senior moderator of Stormfront. We want to challenge these leftists with the fact that their leftist leaders, like Hillary Clinton, are on the same war-for-Israel team as the cowardly Republicans who have been bought and paid for in the Senate, House, White House and media by the Jewish Neocon political machine." COUNTRY JOE AND THE FISH! (tags)
These poems were actually songs of protest from the 60's psychedelic band out of Berkeley California, Country Joe and the Fish. The Fish produced some of the greatest protest music of that period, and their infamous "Feel Like I'm Fixin To Die" song epitomizes the dark humor, anger, and hope of the 60's antiwar movement. The lyrics offered here were of course written about America's war against Vietnam, but the words are timeless and easily apply to the U.S. occupation of Iraq. If you don't know this band... do yourself a favor and find a cd by them.

By making certain statements about God blessing America in the war on Iraq, did George Bush inadvertently make it a Holy War? I will look at the use of God in his State of the Union address and how he has invoked God since then. Many religious groups and leaders were very upset by this.
