LA Coalition for Justice for Oscar Grant Press Conference, 1/8/09: photos and full audio (tags)
The newly formed Los Angeles Coalition for Justice for Oscar Grant held a press conference in front of the LA court house just before the first Southern California hearing in the murder trial of Johannes Mehserle was set to begin. The LA Coalition, along with several Oakland community activists who traveled south for the hearing, spoke about their determination to end the wanton killing and abuse of people of color by police. The first hearing of the Mehserle murder trial in Southern California took place on Friday January 8, 2010. The 7am gathering and press conference in front of the L.A. Superior Court Building was in many ways a meet-and-greet between the newly formed LA Coalition For Justice for Oscar Grant and representatives from Oakland.
