Wisconsin Labor Leads 2d American Revolution (tags)
One year ago, on March 4, California students and teachers had a one-day strike for education, but nothing has improved because we did not have a general strike. Today, Wisconsin workers are striking and protesting the planned Democrat-Republican attack on the workingclass so as to maximize the profits of the capitalist class. The whole country should join this 2d American Revolution with all deliberate speed.
Obama Destroys Social Security (tags)
Democrat Obama, with the support of 138 Republicans and 139 Democrats in the House, for a vote of 277 to 148 on HR 4853, Roll Call 647, and a vote of 87 to 19 in the Senate, Roll Call vote 276, won passage of his tax cuts for the rich bill, destroying Social Security by cutting the payroll tax for Social Security by 2%, which will not be restored in 2012, an election year, when the cut is due to expire.

To provide political cover for this giveaway to the rich, the plan includes an extension of federal long-term unemployment benefits for 13 months and a one-year reduction in the Social Security payroll tax from 6.2 percent to 4.2 percent. While this would temporarily increase paychecks for tens of millions, it would also deprive Social Security of $120 billion in funding. The White House said this shortfall would be made up through general revenue sources, but these have not been specified. [And probably do not exist.]
US Congress Represents Fellow Millionaires (tags)
Democratic Representative of San Francisco, Nancy Pelosi, claims assets of $60 million, with her home and vineyard worth about $15 million. Her investments include AT&T, Cisco Systems, Microsoft, Aloca, Apple, Dow Chemical and Motorola, among others. No millionaire can possibly represent the workingclass, the 80% of us who sell our labor for less than $77,000 a year. Almost half of the US Congress are millionaires.
