Democrats Retreat before Bush (tags)
America and the troops were hoping that Democrats would fulfill the commitment they made to voters in 2006 to end the Iraq War; however on Thursday the Democrats in Congress help the Bush Administration get a blank check to pursue this criminal war. Senate and Congressional Democratic leaders helped facilitate a continued bloodbath in Iraq making this a bi-partisan imperial war.

Stewart A. Alexander, a presidential hopeful with the Peace and Freedom Party, applaud the actions of the ILWU Local 10 and Local 34 for lending their strong support to anti-war protesters at the SSA shipping terminals in Oakland, California. On May 19 the Port Action Committee, the Oakland Education Association, along with teacher, students and community activist demanded that the U.S. get out of Iraq and called on other unionists throughout the United States to mobilize in action to stop the war.

Reid is now opposing the Iraq War because the U.S. is losing; he initially supported the war and backed the invasion. The war is another imperial adventure by the U.S. and there is a growing divide, by those supporters of U.S. imperialism, that a continued war is weakening U.S. imperialism.

The post invasion Iraqi death toll is now estimated to be as high as 1,000,000, far higher than the previous estimate of 655,000; this is according to recent scientific data. Over 5,000,000 Iraqis have been hurt or wounded. Recent figures indicate the refugee numbers have climbed from 2,700,000 to over 3,900,000 and the refugee crisis is broadly impacting the entire region of the Middle East. These are the figures that are not being reported on American television or in American newspapers.
Troop Withdrawal Timetables Divide Democrats (tags)
The campaigning for the 2008 election is off to an early start and the Democrats in both Houses of Congress are using the Iraq War for political leverage to boaster early public support; however Democrats are deeply divided on troop withdrawal timetables, ranging from mid 2007 to various open-ended commitments to continue the war and occupation beyond 2008.
