We in LA all wish to report or hear or write better news of improvements, less begging for more and more monies on air, less internal confusion and conflicts, and financial stability and ethics.....but ... not yet, or if ever possible is unknown...
April Sexual Assault Awareness Month (tags)
April has been designated Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). The statistics of sexual assault are shocking (207,754 victims 12 and older) and the statistics of those assaulted even more so(44% victims are under 18). Perhaps it is time though, that we look past the statistics and grasp that these people assaulted are more than mere numbers on a chart. They are people of both genders, with lives that are profoundly changed when sexual assault occurs.
April 7: Day of Action Against Human Trafficking (tags)
On April 7, 2012 the Radical Feminists of San Diego will mobilize a direct action in solidarity with 2012’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) campaign on a local, national and global level to demand the abolition of human trafficking, the modern-day form of slavery. The event will start at noon on the southeast corner of 30th Street and El Cajon Boulevard in North Park.
