Her investments include AT&T, Cisco Systems, Microsoft, Aloca, Apple, Dow Chemical and Motorola, among others. No millionaire can possibly represent the workingclass, the 80% of us who sell our labor for less than $77,000 a year. Almost half of the US Congress are millionaires.

On the eve of the Republican-dominated mid-term election, working people were told to vote Democrat to prevent a "truly dangerous" Republican party from taking power. There is an element of truth in this: the Republican Party has been sprinting to the far right for decades, to the point where they are incapable of speaking sensibly about political issues. But in a close second place in this rightward scramble are the Democrats, who've spent decades racing into the arms of the corporations that dominate both political parties unchallenged.
In 2008 after the national elections and all the votes were tallied everyone presumed Democrats had a strong position in Washington. Their candidate Barack Obama won the White House with a solid showing that November. They ended up with a huge majority in the House of Representatives. These two things were healthy and an upbeat sign for those who voted for change in Congress.

For many, that alternative is Barack Obama, a Democratic Senator from Illinois. Obama, who is very careful with his words and actions, has done a good job so far of portraying himself as a “sensible progressive”. However, far from being a “progressive” alternative, Obama is at his core a typical representative of the bosses’ political parties. Despite presenting himself as a candidate of “change”, Obama is a defender of capitalism and imperialism, and hence of exploitation and oppression. On all fundamentals, he is far closer to Bush than he is to being a genuine alternative for working people.

Republicans have sold their souls and are unreachable by anyone who doesn't have millions for their campaign coffers. The Democrats appear to be poised to gain some power. We watched the Democrats allow the 2000 election to be stolen by allowing black voters to be disenfranchised in Florida. Did you see Farenheit 911? Not one Democratic Senator would stand up with the black caucus. I watched the Democrats stand by and leave Cynthia McKinney dangling when she found the courage to demand of Rumsfeld "Where's the $2.3 trillion you lost?" and "Investigate 9/11." So, where are we. We have a weak opposition party that has performed dismally. One that finally may gain some power. One that may not do anything with that power unless they wake up with 1 or 2 million demands from us citizens that something be done to change our country for the better forever. Cindy Sheehan said they are “making a difference.” And, Actress Susan Sarandon read an open letter to Laura Bush, in which she mocked Laura’s husband, “The Decider,” as a warmonger.

Can any election be more than a sham under such a condition? Even worse, our votes could have been secretly and invisibly changed to favor George Bush or other Republican congressional candidates by the Republican owned business entities that secretly counted them. And all this after publicly promising their Republican associates they'd win! The bottom line: we really cannot know which Congressman, Senator or President was actually elected on November 2, for the vote-counting was able to be secretly and privately manipulated and then blocked from audit because there were no paper trails required. Thus, the entire national election of November 2 was fundamentally and uncorrectably flawed!
