9/11 Documentary; "Who Killed John O'Neill?" (tags)
This 9/11, people will be asking more questions about prior knowledge and possible complicity within the GW Bush regime with the 9/11 Saudi hijackers. One question is also the title of an informative documentary, "Who Killed John O'Neill?", detailing events from before 9/11 when FBI agent John O'Neill repeatedly warned of impending attacks. Yet despite all his important work he was demoted and eventually worked at the WTC building, where he died on 9/11/01.

'We are above the law': interview with richard butler: (tags)
It's this - this administration has a view of the special character of the United States, the singular and exclusive character that is new. I've talked to them about it and they make this plain. They say "We are the sole super power, we're therefore the exceptional country, we're outside of international law. Others have to obey the law and obey the rules, but we don't."

"But if a long train of abuses. . . . all tending the same way, make the design visible to the people . . . it is not to be wondered that they should then rouse themselves, and endeavorto put the rule into such hands which may secure to them the end for which government was at first erected."

Weapons Inspection: another pretext for regime change? (tags)
(this article about the previous round of inspections show that the US manipulated inspections to suite its own ends and however much Hussein cooperated, they kept moving the goal posts making the whole process futile. With Hans Blix, the current chief inspector, supporting the US resolution, I wouldn't discount a replay of this travesty. It's clear, contrary to what many liberals are arguing, that inspections can just as easily be used as a pretext for war rather than as an alternative to it.) Is there a way to ensure that they are not used that way?
