Why does society call it “adult” if adults don’t have the right to freedom and liberty in the first place? Why does any government think it has a right to “dictate” morality to the American people and treat them like they are eternal adolescents? This zealous effort on the part of government employees and law enforcement is a thinly disguised attempt to dictate more oppressive “Judeo-Christian” morality in our country that is supposed to have a separation of church and state Unfortunately plenty of people still live with the “scourge” mentality that sexual pleasure and the reality of lust is somehow sinful and evil.

You can think of these as honest gatekeepers that YOU trust - and that keep out trivial information, rather than very important information that groups with economic and other hidden agendas prefer to hide from you. Broadband access is now up to 42% in the US, so it is quite possible to target TELEVISION, which is how about 48% of Americans get 30+ minutes of news per day (as opposed to only about 9% over the internet). Should Journalists be Certified? (tags)
Reasonable people here in the U.S. appreciate, and also assume, that our culture’s news industry of executives, editors and journalists be held to high standards of professional conduct. A democratic republic needs, as well as expects, truth in reporting, and adequate, if not comprehensive, coverage on “all” important issues. To refocus the question of media fraud to one of whether journalists ought to be certified, or accredited by some kind of professional board, in order to be recognized as “professional” journalists, is, to say the least, shortsighted.
Don Imus vs. Rap Music Debate Continued: (tags)
Randi Rhodes of Air America is still wrong when she claims that “the” issue (insisting there is only one issue) is no more than white people blaming rap music for words like “ho” when used in the derogatory sense. Don Imus question: “What about rap music?” is a legitimate question—even if “pseudo-liberals” (real liberals consider fairly all relevant points of view before getting judgmental) are quick to dismiss it. In fact dogmatic certitude that there is “one” significant way (my way or the highway) to interpret the debate is itself a red flag.

A summary list of "left gatekeeping" media. These consist of left/alternative/progressive, even radical journalists and publications, investigators, and researchers who censor, or in worst cases, ridicule/smear those, including family members, who question the official conspiracy theory behind the 9/11 attack, in effect teaming up with mainstream media to silence dissent. A few, however, seem to be developing hairline fractures within the wall of silence as the 9/11 truth movement continues to go global. Let's hope it continues. Feel free to add any I may have missed.

A post-election headline from the Akron Beacon Journal cites a critical report by twelve prominent social scientists and statisticians, reporting: "Analysis Points to Election ‘Corruption': Group Says Chance of Exit Polls Being So Wrong in '04 Vote is One-in-959,000." Citing "Ohio's Odd Numbers," investigative reporter Christopher Hitchens, a Bush supporter, says in Vanity Fair: "Given what happened in that key state on Election Day 2004, both democracy and common sense cry out for a court-ordered inspection of its new voting machines."

The progressive radio network, Air America Radio, just celebrated its first tumultuous year. Air America has an impressive line-up. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to my favorite program, Unfiltered. Unfiltered featured a co-creator of The Daily Show, Lizz Winstead, entertainer Chuck D, and activist and Rhodes scholar, Rachel Maddow. The chemistry between Winstead and Maddow often left me giggling along with their infectious laughter. Chuck D. had insights that are hard to find on the talk radio gamut that is dominated by white males.
