In secret meetings on Sept. 28 and Oct. 5, the Pacifica Foundation National Board, which governs the 5-station nonprofit progressive radio network, voted over strong opposition to authorize its executives to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and initiate an effort to make a lucrative deal to swap the frequency of iconic New York station WBAI with another station holding a less desirable signal position.

Protestors gathered outside of LA Superior Court yesterdayas planned, and chanted “Justice for Carlos Montes, drop the charges.” 2 of the 6 felony charges against Montes were dropped becuase the statutue of limitations had expired. In the discussion of the dismissal motion, the prosecution admitted that Department of Justice records on Montes’ legal history were contradictory. Montes contends the prosecution is motivated by a desire put a damper on his social and political activism with baselss charges. Montes is currently urging people to protest against NATO on May 20, 2012 in Chicago.
‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’: Log Cabin Republicans Arguments - "handwaving" (tags)

Of significance also is the lack of opposition to the intervention by the US Department of Justice, and the ongoing refusal of the US District Court to produce the Certificate.

The predominantly Queer San Diego Democratic Club voted overwhelmingly on March 26 to oppose Proposition 1A, centerpiece of the budget reform compromise adopted by the California legislature last January. Though 1A would extend the state's temporary tax increases from two years to four, club members decided that the price -- notably vastly increased veto powers for the governor, new corporate tax breaks and a "rainy-day fund" that could lead to cutbacks in major state programs -- wasn't worth it.
