April 30, 2010, the eve of May Day, is Victory in Vietnam Day, 35 years ago, when the little people in black pajamas defeated the mightiest death machine the world had seen since Nazi Germany, the United States. The American death machine is now poisoning the earth worldwide and can only be stopped by a united workingclass ready to eliminate the profit motive that is the cause of war. That struggle has begun in the US in the form of the fight for public school education as we cannot have guns and butter.
Protester Arrested at U.S. Capitol Asks: What About the First Amendment? (tags)
Activists took their case for ending the Iraqi War to the party responsible for authorizing it--the U.S. Congress! On Sept. 26, 2006, 71 protesters were arrested by police on various charges. The organizing groups for the event were the “National Campaign for Nonviolence Resistance” (NCNR) and the “Declaration of Peace.” One of the protesters arrested was Max Obuszewski of the NCNR. He demanded to know: “What about the First Amendment?”
Israel’s Barbarism in Lebanon/Gaza Protested (tags)
On July 25, 2006, a spirited rally was held in front of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C. The protesters demanded an end to Israel’s murderous attacks on Lebanon and Gaza. The rally was preceded by a march through the neighborhood, which included the protesters carrying 50 coffins draped in black. The coffins symbolized the innocent Lebanese and Palestinians, who have been slaughtered in the latest war crimes committed by Zionist Israel.

The Rev. Billy Graham was in Baltimore recently doing his religious revival thing. For years, he was a crony of warmongering presidents, like Richard M. Nixon. Rev. Graham’s preaching never attracted me. However, the life work of the late Phil Berrigan, an ex-Josephite priest, had a profound influence on me, and others. Berrigan spoke the truth to power. He relentlessly took on the War Party and spent 11 of his 79 years in prison for his protest actions.
