text Venice Flea'd Boardwalk sells commercial junk, once again, forever ? Venice artists 2012-05-15 8:32 PM
Venice Boardwalk has a new ordinance that went into effect, was momentarily enforced by the LAPD, and has deteriorated back to what is was for too long = a junky cheap flea market, Since the very same vendors - that were made to not sell non-art which is now illegal, but they have brazenly returned ... to sell their re-sale mdse. to look-like-crafts-or-not- even-pretend-art and get away with what they did before...illegally but loopholed as long as they are not caught in the act of selling the stuff... art be damned...barely exists here. Rules and ordinances can be ignored. Bullying and being sly is what makes Venice work. How Sad, ugly, a loss for Venice. (text/plain)

The Time is Now to Support Carlos Montes, Beloved Chicano Activist
A very important trial is coming up this Tuesday in LA. There will be a large crowd of supporters outside the criminal court building at 8 am demanding justice for Carlos Montes. What justice would mean in this case is that the District Attorney Steve Cooley drops the charges against Carlos Montes, a beloved Chicano activist, before the trial even starts. If the trial does proceed, the jurors will hear many tall tales told to them by the prosecution. What they will see, however, with their own clear eyes is that Carlos Montes' house was raided nearly one year ago at 5am because of FBI political repression due to his years of activism. REMEMBER THE “GREAT CALAMITY” IN ARMENIA , 1915
Los Angeles--Today, the Echo Park Community Coalition (EPCC) stands with Armenians across LA and the United States to commemorate the 97th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. We must speak out and acknowledge the 1.5 million who lost their lives in the genocide in 1915. It is very revolting that until today the Turkish authorities and their allies in the United States refused to recognize and still denies the genocide also known as the “Great Calamity” which became the model of a later Holocaust by Nazi Germany in World War II.
