Another No Kings demonstration was held at Veterans Memorial in Highland Park with emphasis on voting early in the coming election. Much emphasis was also on opposing ICE. Among the attendees was Angela Gonzales-Torres, who is running for Congress in California's District 34 against incumbent Jimmy Gomez.

2026 is the second consecutive year that No Kings events have occurred at Highland Park's Veterans Memorial.
While attendance was smaller this time (50-60 as opposed to hundreds previously), the event was still impressive and worthwhile. People were also encouraged to bring food donations for NELA Food Distribution
Last year's October No Kings event in Highland Park was covered here: https://la.indymedia.org/news/2026/03/303464.php.
Again, the event was organized by Highland Park Strong, "a coalition of Indigenous Elders, Veterans, and Community Members."
Among the attendees was Angela Gonzales-Torres, who is running for Congress in California's District 34 against incumbent Jimmy Gomez (see https://www.angela4congress.com/about). She was approachable, down to Earth, articulate, and mentioned impressive aspects of her past such as helping former prison inmates acclimate to the world outside.
Most signs criticized ICE, but there was also emphasis on voting early in the upcoming election.
