On the whole, the City of LA is a step ahead of the County of LA. The State is implementing a limited self-quarantine.

San Francisco went on a lockdown.

The virus is having its most rapid growth in Europe, with thousands of new cases being found daily. Most deaths are concentrated in Italy (1809), Spain (288), and France (127).

The US has a dearth of testing, so the low number of reported cases is not accurate. Deaths were 41 total today, so, it's not that high, but it is the highest in the Americas.

LA County has 1 death.

The situation in Asia is instructive. Most of the deaths were in the city of Wuhan in Hubei, China (3218). Next most were in South Korea (75) and then Japan (24).

Most Asian countries were heavily exposed, but went into a quarantine and lockdown pretty quickly, and averted danger. South Korea, in particular, had huge amounts of testing, around 10,000 tests a day, and could track and contain the disease. Thus, they could control the spread a lot better.

The situation in China was a lot worse. Pressure to hide problems caused the state to ignore COVID-19, allowing the virus to spread. As it exploded, they implemented a lockdown, but the effects were sometimes draconian and brutal.

In the US, and some other countries, panic shopping has become a problem.

Large markets have been emptied due to hoarders, but everywhere, small stores seem to have stock. Please, go easy on the purchasing.

People are advised to stay home. The State is making it easier to get unemployment, and we also have a sick leave law. Employers are encouraged to help out by allowing people to not work.

Federal legislature is being hashed out to increase money available to people during this epidemic. Senate Republicans are blocking it.
