\r\n\t'The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits\r\n\tand opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic\r\n\tsociety. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society\r\n\tconstitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of\r\n\tour country. We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes\r\n\tformed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of.'\r\n\t\t<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n
\r\nIf you actually read this far, you are surely the curious type who'd\r\nalso like to understand in much greater depth the mechanics of how\r\nthe 'strategy of tension' interplays with propaganda warfare and\r\npsychological operations, the necessity of manufacturing the\r\nboogeyman of Bin Laden and Al-qaeeda, loose nukes et. al. in its\r\nlatest variants, alongside the manufactured terror, the bomb blasts,\r\nthe assassinations, the frequent dharnas, the rising debt burden, the\r\nlooming economic collapse, the hard crisis upon hard crisis with the\r\nconcomitant perception management that cunningly installs desired\r\nbeliefs which make the public mind to accept preplanned policies as\r\nsolutions to these crises, in Report on Mighty Wurlitzer\r\n(https:\/\/print-humanbeingsfirst.blogspot.com\/2009\/05\/note-on-mighty-wurlitzer.html).<\/p>\r\n
\r\nIf you can perceptively understand that modus operandi, then no news\r\nmedia, no learned pundit who graces your television screen 24x7, no\r\npolitician, no academic, no philosopher, no propagandist, no molvi,\r\nno ayatollah, no president and no prime minister can make your mind\r\nas easily as they do today as vassals and stooges of the Mighty\r\nWurlitzer, to get you to react in the aggregate to manufactured\r\ncrises as predicted by game theory, the cornerstone of modern mass\r\nbehavior control.<\/p>\r\n
\r\nEven after ten years of Benazir Bhutto's assassination, not just\r\nPakistan's news media, but the world's news media, continues to play\r\nvariations on the same tunes of the Mighty Wurlitzer.<\/p>\r\n
\r\nUnder president Trump's administration, the United States of America\r\nappears to be taking all the antagonistic steps against both Iran and\r\nPakistan to make the Wakeup call of 2007 even more pertinent as the\r\nworld enters 2018. Unfortunately, neither nation can still make an\r\neffective self-defense (despite all their bravado that is more\r\nreminiscent of Sadaam Hussein before the first Tomahawk cruise\r\nmissiles hit the ancient land of Mesopotamia). The establishment\r\nleaders, intellectuals, politicians and opinion-makers in both\r\nnations, alongside the rest of the world, still continue to “United\r\nWe Stand” with the base fiction of “War on Terror”\r\nof the United States. Neither has the courage to publicly recognize\r\nand call this fiction for what it is, albeit, most wise people in\r\nboth nations well understand the calculus of hegemony and primacy\r\nwhich underwrites it. \r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nWell, as in love, timeliness in war can make the difference between\r\nwin and lose. Perhaps it is already too late to throw the tea\r\noverboard<\/i> for Pakistan! The nation has been completely destroyed\r\nfrom within over the past two decades of alternately raining American\r\nmade military dictatorship and American made mercenary democracy upon\r\nit, before the first American missiles and American boots will ever\r\nland on its sacred soil to “save” it from the\r\n“terrorists”.<\/p>\r\n
\r\nBut then, just as Patrick Henry tried to rile up the elites of the\r\ndistant American colonies with his now famous clarion call to free\r\nthem from the imperial jackboot stamped upon their face, perhaps the\r\nsame holds true for all who are vigilant, active, brave, in any\r\nnation:<\/p>\r\n
\r\n“Besides, sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There\r\nis a just God who presides over the destinies of nations, and who\r\nwill raise up friends to fight our battles for us. The battle, sir,\r\nis not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the\r\nbrave.”<\/b> --- Patrick Henry, March 23, 1775<\/p>\r\n
\r\nAs Muslims, our belief in God helping us when we help ourselves is\r\nmuch stronger – or so we like to tell each other. Our tragedy\r\nhowever, is that we are overrun with great belief without the courage\r\nof our convictions! And we also don't have Patrick Henrys to lead us\r\ninto battle. \r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nSadly, instead, “her shaaq per ulloo bhaitha hai” (an owl\r\nis perched on every branch --- the nation is overrun with fools and\r\nuseful idiots in all corridors of power, when they are not outright\r\nmercenaries that is).<\/p>\r\n
\r\nWill the existential crisis facing Pakistan in 2018 and beyond,\r\nthanks only partly to being America's best friend all these years,\r\nthe rest is surely our own misery, motivate a transformation away\r\nfrom that ugly Zeitgeist<\/i> of always being a pliant vassal state\r\nof great powers du jour<\/i>?<\/p>\r\n
\r\nThe foundational question for Pakistan from which all good and evil\r\nnaturally follow is really this: will its leaders, its politicians,\r\nits intellectuals, and its establishment ever find the courage to\r\nstop being house niggers<\/i> of the massa<\/i>? \r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nThat revolution of the mind I see is slowly already in the making! It\r\nis being driven bottom up by the clergy class, being led primarily by\r\nthe revolutionary Iran trained Shia Muslim clergy on the one hand who\r\nwish to emulate the Islamic revolution in Iran, and a new Sunni\r\nBarelvi revolutionary movement called “Labaik Ya Rasool-Allah”\r\non the other which is being led by a most unusual cleric on\r\nwheelchair who wishes to bring back the glory days of thirteen\r\ncenturies of Sunni Muslim rule. Both groups claim to want to enact\r\nthe original teachings of the Prophet of Islam, as they each perceive\r\nit through their respective sectarian epistemology, and both have\r\nstarted very dynamic national movements to influence the masses. The\r\nIran trained revolutionary Shia leadership however has refrained from\r\nentering the political theatre and instead chosen to concentrate on\r\nmass education and raising social awareness; to raise a new\r\ngeneration of Shia madrassa-trained Muslim men and women who shall\r\nbecome the backbone of the future Shia revolution in Pakistan to\r\nusher in Iranian style “nizam-e-vilayat” as a dominion of\r\nthe global “valih-e-faqih”. There are several other\r\ngroups as well but not worth mentioning, including militant\r\nantediluvian groups turned “respectable”, and dogmatic\r\nreligious factions among both Shia and Sunni that have long been\r\npolitically active and almost always self-servingly aligned with the\r\nstatus quo, whose rather lack lustre clergy profess the same\r\nambitions but thus far have commanded little traction nationally;\r\nquite unlike the first two revolutionary movements whose rise to\r\nnational prominence is a recent phenomenon. These new crop of\r\nrevolutionary Shia and Barelvi religious leaders display an uncannily\r\nhigh level of learnedness of ancient texts of Islam, the Holy Qur'an,\r\nand intriguingly, also obscure verses in Persian language of “Sir”\r\nAllama Muhammad Iqbal (the national poet laureate and intellectual\r\nfather of Pakistan), all of which they deploy liberally in their\r\nrhetoric for social transformation of Pakistan back to “real\r\nIslam”, alongside claims of throwing the tea overboard<\/i>\r\nthe moment they come to power. \r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nHowever, there appears to be no indication of any awakening from the\r\nplague of occidentosis<\/i> (Westoxification) among the so called\r\nliberal class, the educated class, the professional class, the\r\nbusiness class, the praetorian guard class which includes feudals of\r\nall shades, and the rank and file class. Among the latter class, the\r\nvast majority of the indigent public in both urban and rural areas,\r\nlargely because of deprivation, lack of opportunity, daily struggle\r\nfor subsistence existence, and occupying marginalized stratas of\r\nsociety, appear to be increasingly attracted to the new revolutionary\r\nclergy class as the ones possessing the panacea for ending the\r\nservitude and misery forced upon them by the ruling class. \r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nHow long will the metanoia<\/i> take to trickle up to the actual\r\nruling class who run the country? \r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nThis ruling class of ours, nay, the ruling class in virtually all\r\nMuslim dominant nations (with the exception of Iran), willingly carry\r\nthe white man's burden<\/i> as the obedient Uncle and Aunty\r\nThomases<\/i>, are amply rewarded for their servitude with permission\r\nto loot and plunder the public exchequer in line with the overarching\r\nobjectives of the massa<\/i>, will simply have to be replaced\r\nforcibly.... and that cannot happen without an actual physical\r\norganic revolution in Pakistan. Of this, there are no signs\r\nwhatsoever as of this writing in 2018. Indeed, there can be no 19th\r\nand 20th century style revolutions in Pakistan, not even like\r\nrevolutionary Iran, because Pakistan is not a homogeneous nation. The\r\nseeds of division are too deep and too broad spectrum, and the public\r\nmind is too indolent. The rising new Sunni Barelvi leadership wearing\r\nthe revolutionary mantle, different from the revolutionary Shia\r\nleadership, is attempting to rather Pollyannaishly, peaceably replace\r\nthe ruling class with themselves through the ballot box of 2018. If\r\nthis new revolutionary clergy class comes to significant\r\nparliamentary power, at least they promise to strive to dump the\r\ntea overboard<\/i>. However, what will happen to the already fractious\r\nPakistani society under their dogmatic sectarian stewardship is\r\nanybody's guess. Thus far, they have defined themselves mainly in\r\nterms of their foreign and domestic enemies, including corruption of\r\nthe Pakistani elites and other Muslim sects they do not approve of.\r\nThey have not mentioned at all how they plan to address the very real\r\ndomestic challenges facing Pakistan's population after they have\r\nwiped out all their enemies from the face of the planet.<\/p>\r\n
\r\nNeither the Shia nor the Sunni revolutionary thinking on display in\r\nPakistan by their respective clergy class appear to have any\r\nsolutions for living in modernity except to bring back antiquity.\r\nPerhaps they haven't had the time to develop their post-antiquity\r\nideology, think of manifestos and constitutions for a country like\r\nPakistan with its deep divisions and fracture lines, by which their\r\nplan for Pakistan can be adjudicated beyond their pious claims\r\nagainst their enemies.<\/p>\r\n
\r\nThe vacuum in integrity and honesty in the corridors of power has\r\nopened the leadership doors wide open for alternatives to step in,\r\nincluding the clergy class. Since Pakistani clergy class has never\r\ntasted unfettered political power or national responsibility, nor\r\nexperienced developmental and population challenges at a national\r\nscale, nor do they brook any familiarity with the actual mechanics of\r\nmodern statecraft and its relation to international institutions and\r\nglobal politics, their competency to run a modern nation-state beyond\r\ntheir recitation of ancient Prophetic wisdoms and Caliphatic history\r\nof conquests, would only be determined on the job. If the Iranian\r\nclergy can learn on the job to run a theological state and continue\r\nto survive American sanctions and American-sponsored wars, the\r\nPakistani clergy surely may have rational claims to a modern\r\nprecedent, except that Pakistan is not Iran, and Pakistanis are not\r\nPersian! But Pakistan is also a nuclear state. There will always be\r\ngreater urgency to confront Pakistan and de-nuke it if any\r\nrevolutionary clergy class of Pakistan, Shia and Sunni, ever comes to\r\npower. In its calculus of primacy and hegemony, the white man's\r\nburden<\/i> simply cannot tolerate any Muslim nation possessing real\r\nnuclear weapons (as opposed to tolerating the illusion of\r\npossession). The massa class<\/i> well understands all that they\r\nhave destroyed and stolen of the Muslims in the centuries past and\r\ncannot risk losing Western hegemony and its vassal states to a\r\nrevival of “revolutionary Islam” with teeth. This means\r\nthat when military-style injection of its forces is not being staged,\r\neven more strangulating sanctions and psychological warfare can be\r\nexpected than weathered by revolutionary Iran before it was forced to\r\ngive up (or roll back) its nuclear program under the 2015 JCPOA\r\nagreement with world powers for the promise of economic relief. \r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nWhere Pakistanis have survived American-sponsored military\r\ndictatorships, American-sponsored political graftmanships,\r\nAmerican-sponsored inept leadership, and American-sponsored\r\nenlightened moderation, the divine state<\/i> will surely survive\r\nthe clerics as well, American-sponsored and not.<\/p>\r\n
\r\nThere is evidently a deep secret to the very existence of Pakistan\r\n--- and anyone given to even a modicum of metaphysical reflection can\r\neasily believe that this secret hasn't been revealed (or uncovered)\r\nas yet. \r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nI support anyone and any system that can a) deliver the nation from\r\nservitude; and b) give justice and fairness to its public. The rest\r\nwe can do ourselves. We are a hard working industrious people, we\r\ndon't need foreign hand-outs, and we don't need big-brother\r\nhand-holding. Let us live in dignity and self-respect among nations,\r\ngive us fairness and justice domestically, stop the elite from\r\nlooting the exchequer and living their privilege at the expense of\r\nthe public, and we shall show the world what it means to throw tea\r\noverboard<\/i> once again. \r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nAnd that, as the cynic would say, is the greatest of all platitudes!<\/p>\r\n
