HJM6-3 is the revised Joint Memorial calling on Oregon's congressional delegation to send us a constitutional amendment to end the court-created doctrines that money is speech and that corporations are people. The committee voted unanimously to send the resolution to a vote of the full House.

Read the text of HJM6-3

link to afd-pdx.us2.list-manage1.com

Time to take action!

Having sent it to the full House means we each need to advocate for its passage. Call or email your state representative NOW, express your support for HJM6 and inform them of your expectation that they will approve this and move it onto the senate. Because the legislative session will end soon, we need to take action NOW!

And after contacting your representative, contact your state senator as well. The message there is that you expect that HJM6 will be approved by the House and that they will see it very soon, that you support the resolution and expect that they will vote in favor as well when it reaches them.

Contact your Oregon state representative and senator.

If the Oregon legislature passes this, it will join 15 other states which have called on Congress to amend the constitution. And Oregon will join an elite group of states (Vermont and Illinois) in making clear that we need to do more than just overturn Citizens United or enact an amendment to allow limitations on campaign contributions - we need to eliminate the twin court-created doctrines that money is speech (it is property) and that corporations are people with constitutional rights (they are not; their rights are those given to them by the states).

More information at

www.movetoamendpdx.org

http://gallery.mailchimp.com/6bf292f7394029ec068144872/files/HJM_6_3_6_17_13.pdf

homepage: homepage: http://www.movetoamendpdx.org

address: address: http://www.freembtranslations.net

Grandmothers, pensioners, workers and the unemployed shouldn't be paying for the greed of Wall Street speculators.
