Even during the relatively slow times (as far as demonstrations and marches), I enjoy visiting the camp. I like the diversity of people in terms of race, class, gender, and age.
I feel a strong sense of community. Creativity is almost everywhere. Sometimes, while visiting the camp, I get a feeling of being in Ecotopia, Ernest Callenbach's fictional society, described in the book of the same name.
Personally, I'd like to see Shitty Hall and much of downtown get reclaimed by nature (a la Life After People and Alan Weisman's The World Without Us) but have the camp remain indefinitely as a replacement.
