Dear Radio Friend,

The latest Shortwave Report (April 29) is up at the website

http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality (15.1MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (4.9MB) (28:59)

(NEW! If you have access to Audioport.org there is a higher quality version posted up there {27MB} http://www.audioport.org/index.php?op=producer-info&uid=904&nav=&)

This week's show features stories from China Radio International, NHK Japan, Radio Deutsche-Welle, Radio Havana Cuba, and The Voice of Russia.

From CHINA- The Chinese government is studying ways to control housing developers profits to keep home prices from inflating. Jimmy Carter is visiting North Korea to discuss food shortages and the nuclear situation. In Palestine, Fatah and Hamas have agreed to form an interim government and have a general election. NATO bombings of Gaddafi's buildings in Libya is creating a large international rift.

From JAPAN- There has been a reassessment of damage to the fuel in the stricken nuclear power plants in Japan. Vietnam plans to bring 4 new nuclear power plants on line in 2020. India wants to build 20 nuclear power stations in the next 10 years despite growing public opposition.

From GERMANY- On the eve of the anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster anti-nuke demonstrations were held across Germany. Sweden has ruled that the indigenous Sammi people may continue to graze their reindeer on private property. A report from Monday on the NATO bombing of Tripoli.

From CUBA- Bolivia has presented evidence of interference in political and union affairs by the US Agency for International Development. Former Honduran President Zelaya denounced that the US is the real obstacle to solving conflicts in Honduras. Hugo Chavez praised work underway to consolidate Latin American and Caribbean nations. In protest of US drone strikes, Pakistani demonstrators temporarily closed the main supply route for NATO troops in Afghanistan. NATO is planning to increase airstrikes in Libya with the generous gift of armed drones from the US.

From RUSSIA- Russian Prime Minister suggested that the oil and gas reserves in Libya are a major factor in the war in Libya, and that there is no UN mandate to kill Gaddafi. A report on the NATO destruction of Libyan infrastructure and the use on the ground of many international special forces.

There is an article about the Shortwave Report by Cassandra Roos on line -

I was interviewed for an informative weekly radio show Mediageek, available at http://radio.mediageek.net

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.

This program will be aired on Friday evening at 6:30pm (PDST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org >

There are several other streams that work better- http://www.freakradio.org >Freak Radio Santa Cruz now streams this program on Friday at 9:00am.(PST)

NEWLY CORRECTED!!! The Shortwave Report may be downloaded as a podcast from
Check out the amazing streams at http://www.radicalradio.org >

And Radio For Peace International at http://www.rfpi.org >

I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt! (maybe a little)
