LOS ANGELES, CA, (March 16, 2011) Igi Brezo, an internationally acclaimed abstract painter from Slovakia, has generated a buzz wherever he exhibits his modern, expressive abstract works that employ oil, acrylic, and mixed techniques on canvas and wood. But, none so loud as when he donated art work to benefit children in the U.S.
As an avid traveler, Brezo freely captures the essence of his travels depicting the depth of human passion and ethical values—such as justice and suffering—contrasting good and evil within the world while balancing the beautiful majesty of nature.Strikingly original the combination technique utilizes whatever captures the artist’s interest. His creative abstract style hasgarnered many rave reviews from critics and art collectors. They are ordinarily available throughout Europe, Asia, Latin and South America, Canary Islands, Cyprus and Majorca. However, on Friday, March 25, another venue will be added to the list for one night only when Brezo’s 48 by 48-inch work titled Fireworks of Flowers is offered in a silent auction to benefit The Agape Refuge Home (TARH) of Pasadena, California. Absentee bids are being accepted.
After Brezo heard about the vision of Kimberly Castile, President and Founder of TARH, and was made aware of the organization’s mission to provide a safe and loving environment for children and youth that are victims of abuse or unwanted, especially in Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties in Southern California, Brezo decided to help. Recognizing his own childhood difficulties under the rule of a Communist regime that squashed freedom of expression, Brezo reached out to the organization.
“I had begun to paint in the United States, and started feeling the cultural uniqueness of California,” Brezo said. “It was really amazing to me to hear of such things in the U.S., so I started thinking about what I could do to make a difference. I wanted to donate a piece of artwork that was inspired in California.”
Needless to say, the shelter’s management was overwhelmed with the generosity of Brezo’s offer. “We are happy that Igi decided to help us with the housing and treatment of these precious children,” Castile said. “We are ecstatic and truly grateful.”
“Who could have imagined that someone from so far away would feel the needs of these children,” added Vanessa Guy, Executive Vice President of TARH.
Because the artwork is such an extraordinary – and valuable – auction item, The Agape Refuge Home is opening the bidding to anyone who wishes to call or e-mail an absentee bid. All left bids will be handled confidentially and lodged competitively during the auction by the event’s auctioneer.
