We are calling\r\n A national day of multi-ethnic unity with youth, labor, peace\r\n and justice communities in solidarity with immigrant workers and\r\n building new immigrant rights & civil rights movement!
\r\n
\r\n Wear White T-Shirt, organize local actions to support immigrant\r\n worker rights!
\r\n
\r\n 1) No to anti-immigrant legislation, and the criminalization of\r\n the immigrant communities.
\r\n 2) No to militarization of the border.
\r\n 3) No to the immigrant detention and deportation.
\r\n 4) No to the guest worker program.
\r\n 5) No to employer sanction and \"no match\" letters.
\r\n 6) Yes to a path to legalization without condition for\r\n undocumented immigrants NOW.
\r\n 7) Yes to speedy family reunification.
\r\n 8) Yes to civil rights and humane immigration law.
\r\n 9) Yes to labor rights and living wages for all workers.
\r\n 10) Yes to the education and LGBTQ immigrant legislation.
\r\n
\r\n We encourages everyone to actively linking our issues with\r\n different struggles: wars in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Iraq,\r\n Afghanistan, Palestine & Korea with sweatshops exploitation\r\n in Asia as well as in Los Angeles, New York; international arm\r\n sales and WTO, FTAA, NAFTA & CAFTA with AIDS, hunger, child\r\n labors and child solider; as well as multinational corporations\r\n and economic exploitation with racism and poverty at home—in\r\n order we can win the struggle together at this May Day 2009!<\/p>\r\n

\r\n Below please find a Report on MayDay 2009 Events being held that we
\r\n know of, if you are aware of other events, please let me know to
\r\n update the list. In addition, there will be a follow-up on the number
\r\n of people in attendance in each event, these numbers will be added to
\r\n hopefully have a total which reflects the numbers from the Organizers
\r\n or Attendees, to balance the numbers that the local Police Departments
\r\n releases that, as we have known in the past, are always deflated.
\r\n
\r\n I've committed myself to compile these numbers to the best of my
\r\n ability, if you can help in any way, this will enhance my ability to
\r\n carry out this task - Repeating myself, I can use your help in these
\r\n two areas, 1. If you know of an event which is not listed, please let
\r\n me know and, 2. After the actions, if you do know the number of people
\r\n in your event, or other events, please let me know. (My thanks to
\r\n activists who have already made me aware of previously unknown events)

\r\n \"Charity is commendable; everyone should be charitable. But justice
\r\n aims to create a social order in which, if individuals choose not to
\r\n be charitable, people still don’t go hungry, unschooled or sick
\r\n without care. Charity depends on the vicissitudes of whim and personal
\r\n wealth; justice depends on commitment instead of circumstance.
\r\n Faith-based charity provides crumbs from the table; faith-based
\r\n justice offers a place at the table.\"
