"Viva Palestina USA" aid convoy to Gaza announced
Los Angeles, Alta California - April 8, 2009 - (ACN) Member of the British Parliament George Galloway announced last night in California a plan for a humanitarian aid convoy originating from America to the besieged Gaza Strip . This will be the second aid convoy to Gaza. George Galloway, after learning of the brutal 22 day bombing of Palestinian homes, schools, hospitals and mosques in Gaza by the Zionist Israeli regime about three months ago, quickly mobilized a grueling but very successful 110 vehicle aid convoy from Great Britain to Gaza. The journey called "Viva Palestina" was 5,000 miles long and took 3 weeks to complete.
The first convoy from England left Hyde Park in London with over 1 million pounds in aid that included essential medicines, medical supplies, blankets, tents, tools, and toys for Palestinian children. The Israelis killed over 300 Palestinian children and countless more were left maimed for life. Children in England prepared boxes with gifts and letters of good wishes for their counterparts in Gaza. The 110 vehicles in the convoy were also gifted, along with cash donated by British citizens and residents, to the Palestinians. The convoy drivers and other volunteers flew back to Great Britain.
Last night at the Embassy Suites near Disneyland in Anaheim, California, George Galloway gave a stirring speech to a packed audience of over 1000 Californians. He was given a standing ovation when he announced a second aid convoy to Gaza, this time originating from the USA. The new aid convoy has been named "Viva Palestina USA".
After being denied entry into Canada by Zionists, MP George Galloway went on a USA speaking tour instead. He has now teamed up with Vietnam veteran and peace activist Ron Kovic to launch the "Viva Palestina USA" aid convoy. Ron Kovic, is the inspiration for Oliver Stone's "Born on the Fourth of July". Mr. Kovic will be the co-leader of the convoy. The convoy will form up in Egypt and then make its way to the Rafah crossing and into the Gaza Strip. George Galloway, Ron Kovic, some Hollywood stars and other organizers have established a goal of raising $10 million dollars and taking an aid convoy of 500 vehicles into Gaza. The "Viva Palestina USA" convoy will "head off" on Independence Day - July 4th, 2009 said George Galloway.
