The rest of the world is beginning to route its communications traffic around the United States.

Per a Times story:

Since passage of the Patriot Act, many companies based outside of the United States have been reluctant to store client information in the U.S.,” said Marc Rotenberg, executive director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center in Washington. “There is an ongoing concern that U.S. intelligence agencies will gather this information without legal process. There is particular sensitivity about access to financial information as well as communications and Internet traffic that goes through U.S. switches.”

I have been saying things like this for years, trying to get people to read the handwriting on the walls, the signs, the signals, that a harsh police state mentality has been creeping into the government of the United States for a long, long time, completely unchecked, and unquestioned.

If however, people such as yourself, begin to influence this realization in others as well, perhaps this nation will wake up. Perhaps people will realize, we have all been duped into doing all of the wrong things, for all of the wrong reasons, under the pretense of protecting ourselves by giving away our rights, and our very security and freedom in the process.

The cost, of these actions, the international community blacklisting our internet networks, can and will be devastating to our economy in the not very distant future. So much of business is being done electronically, so many transactions, so much commerce, that this practice will impact upon those transactions, the profitability of our companies, and ourselves, and quickly.

Perhaps this is the wake up call this nation really needed. When the entire rest of the world, voluntarily begins to blacklist another country, to the point of economic impact, the citizens must realize that something is very very wrong at home, and we need to fix it, and fix it quickly.

The terror tactics of Bush and his administration of implanting into the minds of this countries citizens the idea, that a boogie man lurks in every bush, behind every tree, in every city all across the nation must be discarded as utter non-sense, the ravings of paranoid and obsessive people.

If history has taught us anything, anything at all, it is that a police state cannot, and will never be able to run on a profit. The cost, the burden, the overhead of all that tracking, all those unnecessary police and investigative units, the cost of building ever more and larger prisons to house greater and greater numbers of the citizenry, over bogus, trumped up, charges, removing those citizens from the economy, removing them from contributing into the economy, and then having society paying for of their care, in a prison, eventually bankrupts that society.

The economics of police states simply do not work, they never have, and never will, they burden the economy to the point of collapse.

That is precisely what happened to the Soviet Empire, that is precisely what will happen to all other dictatorship police states, if they do not realize and understand that a government so oppressive, so large, and so expensive to run that their economy cannot afford it, destroys the entire nation.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but here in Los Angeles, I don’t think there has been a single case, not one, of a terrorist cell uncovered in my city. There has not been a single case, not one, of a train bombing, or a bus bombing, or an airport bombing, or hostages, or even threats of these kinds of actions, Ever, in the entire span of my 55 years here. NOT ONE.

So what is all this Bush Rhetoric about? Where are these boogie men? SHOW ME ONE !!! And one or two isn’t enough to convince me that we must trash the Constitution of the United States, with the Bill of Rights, only to get rid of those very few who do manage to sneak in here and cause trouble.
