Echanis, 60, attended a hearing of the case at the Manila Regional Trial Court on Tuesday.

Police officer Cesar Magsino, acting chief of the Philippine National Police Custodial Center, said in a July 29 statement that Echanis' detention at the facility in Quezon City was impractical and inconvenient since his hearings were in Manila .

The Supreme Court ordered the case transferred to Manila from Hilongos, Leyte . Last July, Magsino said the proper institution to detain the accused was a facility under the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology by virtue of Republic Act No. 6975.
