They were happy to be interviewed and be recorded but they all requested that their names be withheld.  I spoke with one man who said he was there because he is worried about the safety of his life savings ($160,000). He had been waiting in line for two days now.  I also spoke with an 88 year old woman who had been trying since Monday to meet someone at the bank. The branch on Wilshire Blvd in Santa Monica has started issuing numbers to customers wanting to withdraw money from their accounts. Today, the doors to the bank were guarded by two security agents. Customers were only allowed entry when their number was called.  On arrival this reporter saw ticket #516 issued to a woman from Marina Del Rey who wanted to close her account and move her savings to another bank.
