The Quake offense started off quick when #5 Monique Zaky took a pitch on the first play of the game for a 51 yard TD. The Quake offense found themselves in great field position most of the game and scored with ease. Not to be out done, the Quake special teams put points on the board as well. #33 Julie Blied returned a punt for a 33-yard TD and with the game well in hand, #81 Sarah Oliver attempted a 45-yard FG on a first down early in the 4th quarter. The ball bounced off the cross-bar as the crowd ooohhh’d and aaahhh’d. As the game wound down, the Quake looked for an opportunity, not to run up the score; but to give Oliver another chance at setting the record for the longest FG in women’s football. The Menace put together a drive at the end of the game, but Kirby grabbed her 4th INT and after two quick runs by Zaky, the Quake and Oliver lined up to try a 44 yarder with 2 seconds remaining. The ball sailed through the uprights and would have been good from 50+ as the ball landed on the track well beyond the playing field. After the game, Oliver thanked each of the players on the FG unit for giving her the opportunity to make the kick. The snap was by #7 Ki Fujikawa, and held by Blied. The old record was from a distance of 42 yard and was from 2003.
